Growing Newsome Plant Drop

This year’s Big Plant Swap in Newsome is a little different. Although we aren’t able to get together for our usual event this year, we are still here for each other. And we still want to help people grow their own food. So with a little help from our friends, Growing Newsome are making something a bit special happen this month. We’ve already dropped hundreds of plants on the doorsteps of people who are shielding, self-isolating or growing food for their wellbeing. And there’s still time for you to join in…

Nature’s Medicine

Find out which plants can support your wellbeing. Professional medical herbalist, Sue Salmon, will take you on a gentle stroll along the River Holme to discover medicinal plants and the benefits they bring. A free event open to families in Newsome, Berry Brow, Lockwood or Crosland Moor.

Tuesday 4th June 2019 from 7pm to 8pm. Meet at Scar Cafe, Lockwood. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the event. Organised by River Holme Connections. This session is open to adults and young people aged 15+

Big Plant Swap 2019

Everyone is welcome at Growing Newsome’s annual Big Plant Swap. You can choose from hundreds of vegetable plants, herbs, salads, fruit and wildlife-friendly flowers. There’s also seed planting and craft activities for children, food growing advice, local volunteering opportunities, stalls including local produce on sale, and a two-course lunch served from 12 noon.

The event is on Saturday 1st June 2019 from 10am to 1pm at Newsome Scout Hall, Newsome Road South HD4 6JJ. Free admission.
