Newsome Ward Community Forum

cropped-logo-tree4-pantone367u.jpgNewsome Ward Community Forum brings together the people of the Newsome area. We meet to discuss issues of interest and concern, and we work together to improve our local area and provide opportunities for community participation. We run projects in response to the interests of Newsome residents. Our group is run entirely by volunteers.

Our bi-monthly public meetings are an opportunity to share information, get support and raise issues of concern. We also have speakers on a wide range of topics – anything from money management to renewable energy. Our meetings are attended by residents, community groups and representatives from local services (such as Kirklees Council and West Yorkshire Police).

Our meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of January, March, May, July, September and November in the Community Room at Newsome High School on Castle Avenue. Meetings start at 6pm, with a buffet available from 5.45pm. Everyone is welcome.

Newsome Fun Day

On Saturday 3rd June 2017 we celebrated 20 years of volunteering and fantastic community activities in the Newsome Ward. We invited dozens of organisations to come and show off all the good stuff that’s happening right here on our doorstep.

We were the project partner for Newsome Ward Community First, a local funding panel which supported 39 community projects between 2012 and 2015. We also developed a Community Plan for the Newsome Ward, showing what people think of living here.
