S2R are creating lots of helpful online resources to help our wellbeing, creativity and connection with the outdoors. We encourage you have a look at what’s on offer and share this with anyone who might find it helpful.


‘How to’ videos & workshops

Video guides to making things at home, including bird feeders, handmade paper and wild garlic pesto, and looking after your wellbeing. From 18th May 2020 there’s also be a series of free online ‘How to’ workshops, starting with:

50 Days Nature Challenge

Nature is good for our mental health and wellbeing. Each day s2R are sharing easy and simple activities or tasks for you to try at home, in the garden or out and about where possible.

It can be difficult to connect with others, remain engaged and stay motivated during this challenging time. These Wellbeing Packs are designed around the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, which is a nationally recognised initiative that aims to keep you fit and healthy by concentrating on 5 key elements.

Wild Art

Join us for a week filled with creativity, with a new art workshop every day, you can learn how to make your own clay animals, leaf crowns, pebble painting, bark etchings, natural art outdoors, water painting, wild jewellery and more! With something different each day this is a great way to be learn the many ways in which nature has so much to offer. Fun for all the family. Standard price £4 / £6 per person. Light refreshments will be available.

Monday 25th to Thursday 28th May 2020 from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Stirley Community Farm, Hall Bower Lane, HD4 6FA.

Spring Nature Tots

Please note: The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have cancelled all events at Stirley Farm until the end of April 2020, due to the coronovirus outbreak.

Come and join us for fun activities in and around Stirley Farm for pre-schoolers and their parents (suitable for 5s and under). Nature Tots take place the last Friday of every month, we encourage creative play and weather permitting, will do many of our pre-school activities outside. We aim to incorporate nature and wildlife elements into toddler play, it’s also a great opportunity to meet new parents and have a good catch-up with a cup of tea or coffee. Light refreshments available. Standard price £4 / £6 per child – adults free.

Friday 27th March 2020, Friday 24th April 2020 and Friday 29th May 2020 from 10.30am to 12 noon at Stirley Community Farm, Hall Bower Lane, HD4 6FA.

Spring Nature Tots

Family Nature Quest

Do you know where the wood is in Lockwood? Ever visited the river? Let charity, River Holme Connections, and local artists bring Spa Wood and the River Holme to life for your family.

Join our Family Nature Quest led by artist Bess Martin, who will take you on a journey of discovery. All ages will love this exploration game as Bess reveals Spa Wood’s hidden treasures and the enjoyment a trip along the riverside can bring.

Please drop in for an hour on Sunday 30th June 2019 between 11am and 3pm and enjoy the quest. Meet at The Scar Cafe, 1 Woodhead Road, Huddersfield HD4 6ER.

This free event is open to families living in the local area.
