Family Nature Quest

Do you know where the wood is in Lockwood? Ever visited the river? Let charity, River Holme Connections, and local artists bring Spa Wood and the River Holme to life for your family.

Join our Family Nature Quest led by artist Bess Martin, who will take you on a journey of discovery. All ages will love this exploration game as Bess reveals Spa Wood’s hidden treasures and the enjoyment a trip along the riverside can bring.

Please drop in for an hour on Sunday 30th June 2019 between 11am and 3pm and enjoy the quest. Meet at The Scar Cafe, 1 Woodhead Road, Huddersfield HD4 6ER.

This free event is open to families living in the local area.

Forest Bathing

Modern life can leave you anxious and stressed. Enjoy the benefits of unwinding with this relaxing workshop. Creative, mindfulness and wellbeing expert, Rachel Howfield Massey, will help you tune into your senses and connect with nature leaving you stress-free and ready for anything.

Wednesday 19th June 2019 from 7pm to 8.30pm. Meet at The Scar Cafe, 1 Woodhead Road, Huddersfield HD4 6ER.

Open to adults and young people aged 12+. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the session and wear appropriate clothing.

Do you live in Newsome, Berry Brow, Lockwood or Crosland Moor? Then you can take part in this free event.

Create a limestone sculpture for your home or garden. Professional stone sculptor, Melanie Wilks, will teach you how to sculpt like an expert to create a relief sculpture in this creative workshop. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the workshop and dress appropriatley.

Saturday 15th June 2019 from 10am to 4pm. Meet at  The Scar Cafe, 1 Woodhead Road, Lockwood, Huddersfield HD4 6ER. Organised by River Holme Connections. Minimum age: 14 years. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Find out which plants can support your wellbeing. Professional medical herbalist, Sue Salmon, will take you on a gentle stroll along the River Holme to discover medicinal plants and the benefits they bring. A free event open to families in Newsome, Berry Brow, Lockwood or Crosland Moor.

Nature’s Medicine

Spa Wood Young Riverside Explorers

Join local charity River Holme Connections on the Riverside Way in Lockwood for a walk on the wildside. Discover the wildlife that lives above and below the surface of the River Holme, get rid of some alien invaders, try your hand at fishing and help us create some unique artworks.

Drop in or spend some time with us at this free half term event for youngsters and their families. Tuesday 30th October 2018 from 1pm to 3pm, meet at HD4 6AT.

Spa Wood Young Riverside Explorers

This event is one of the Kirklees Youth Alliance Events during October half term. It is part of an exciting new alliance of youth-focused organisations delivering positive activities across Kirklees. We will be asking young people about service provision to help develop a new community-based youth offer.
