Heritage Open Days 2024 in Newsome

The Newsome Centre building (formerly St. John the Evangelist Church) will be open for anyone who is interested in local history to explore, as part of Heritage Open Days 2024.

The Centre will be open on:

  • Saturday 7th September, from 10am to 4pm
  • Sunday 8th September, from 10am to 2pm
  • Saturday 14th September, from 10am to 4pm
  • Sunday 15th September, from 10am to 2pm

On 7th and 8th of September, the Centre will be hosting Huddersfield & District Family History Society. On 7th September you can also visit the Growing Newsome stall.

Refreshments available.

Newsome Mill Ponds matter – share your views

A full planning application has been submitted to Kirklees Council for building 22 houses on the Newsome Mill Ponds site and the land at Hart Street. We know that this heritage greenspace matters to our community – the overwhelming response we hear in Newsome is that local people value, benefit from and want to retain this open space.
