Autumn celebration event 2018

Everyone is welcome at Growing Newsome’s annual Autumn Gathering event. There’s lots of local food available to try and buy, including preserves, homemade cakes and a hot, two-course lunch served from 12 noon. We also have stalls and activities, including crafts for kids. Food growers can choose from seven different varieties of garlic bulbs, plus onion sets, seeds and a selection of plants.

The event is on Saturday 6th October 2018 from 10am to 1pm at Newsome Scout Hall, Newsome Road South HD4 6JJ. Refreshments are available all morning. Free admission.

Community allotment – volunteers wanted

Growing Newsome are looking for more volunteers to join in at our local Community Allotment. From sitting down sowing some seeds in the potting shed to doing some digging or helping with DIY tasks, there’s something to suit everyone. It’s a great way to learn and to meet people, or just to spend some quiet time outdoors. Open every Sunday from 10am to 12 noon and other times too.

We welcome volunteers who can help out with occasional tasks, such as providing transport to fetch compost and other materials for us, or repairing buildings.

Sessions are also available for groups of volunteers, by arrangement.
