Festive Gift Making

Join in with these Yorkshire Wildlife Trust sessions this festive season to make and create some homemade natural gifts for all the family.

We’ll be making Beeswax candles, orange pomanders, weave your own Christmas wreaths and more… there will be something different on offer each weekend in the run up to Christmas!

Sundays 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd December 2019 from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Stirley Community Farm, Hall Bower Lane , Berry Brow, Huddersfield HD4 6FA.

Basic refreshments will be available – Tea, Coffee, Cake and Hot Chocolate!

Suitable for All ages – we will have activities and crafts to suit everyone this season!

Price: Each session is £4 for YWT members or £6 for non-members, per person.

Messy Christmas 2019

A family event open to everyone, with a fun celebration of stories and songs. Activiities for children and a full meal. All Welcome.

Christmas Get Together Lunch

Castle Community Hub are hosting our second Christmas Get Toghter Lunch, where older people in our community can get together, chat and enjoy a festive lunch together. It’s on Thursday 5th December 2019 from 12 noon to 2pm.

Places are limited so please let us know if you or someone you know would like come come along, so we can reserve you a place. There is no charge to individuals as the Christmas lunch has been funded by the Food for Life Get Together Programme

Newsome Kiddies Christmas Party 2019

Tickets are available now for the Newsome Kiddies’ Christmas Party. It’s a fun afternoon for children aged 8 and younger, featuring a surprise guest.

Join in the fun on Saturday 14th December 2019 from 2.30pm to 5pm at Newsome Scout Hall, Newsome Road South, Newsome, Huddersfield HD4 6JJ.

Admission £3 per child,includes all the activities, party tea and a gift. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

You can choose the contents from a selection of jams and jellies, all freshly made this Summer and Autumn from fruit and vegetables grown in the Newsome area. Berry Brow Christmas Craft Fair 2019

Come along to the Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday 30h November 2019 from 10am to 2pm at Berry Brow Methodist Church and Community Centre, Birch Road, Berry Brow, Huddersfield HD4 7LP.

Stalls include: gift boxes of homegrown jams from Growing Newsome, children’s gifts, handmade cards, jewellery and confectionery. There’s a small entry fee and refreshments are on sale, in support of next year’s Berry Brow Carnival.

A Welcoming Winter Walk

Join the Castle Hill Ranger for a refreshing winter walk on the eve of the Winter Solstice, which marks the longest night and shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The walk will be 5 miles. Free.

Friday 20th December 2019 from 12 noon to 3pm.

For the walk you will need good footwear, warm clothing and waterproofs. There will be some slopes, rough terrain and a number of step-over stiles. Meet at the top car park on Castle Hill. Sorry, no dogs except assistance dogs. Organised by Kirklees Council.
