Pumpkin Picking season is back for another year at Stirley alongside a fun, family bat-themed trail through our gardens.

New for this year! We’re introducing timed slots including a quiet hour at the end of each day.

Creepy Crawly Trail and Pumpkin Picking

Pick the perfect pumpkin in time for spooky season and discover the mighty mini beasts that have gardening superpowers on a creepy crawly trail around Stirley’s allotment and orchard. This event is fun for all the family. Access along the trail is grassy and uneven, we recommend walking boots or wellies. Price: £5 adults, £3 children.

Nature Tots

It’s never too early to be inspired by nature! Explore the great outdoors through fun and stimulating activities at Stirley. These friendly and inclusive Nature Tots sessions are specially designed for children aged four and under to learn with their parent or carer. Each session will have a special theme, be it based on a book, season or wildlife. We can’t wait to meet you and your adventurous little ones!

Last Friday of every month (April  to September) and Friday 21st October 2022 at Stirley, off Hall Bower Lane, Berry Brow, Huddersfield HD4 6RP

An action-packed day camp for those wild about the great outdoors. From wild cooking to minibeast hunting and wild animal tracking, each day is set to be a true adventure and the highlight of your summer. For ages 8 to 11.

Bookings are for all four days (£80 per child).

School’s Out! Summer 2021 holiday activities

School’s Out! is a programme of summer clubs and activities for children and young people in Kirklees.

This includes the Holiday Activities and Food programme which will help children to stay active and healthy, boosting their mental and physical wellbeing.

Sessions are available for 4 to 16 year olds who receive benefits-related free school meals.

Newsome Play Day 2021

Come and join the fun at Newsome Play Day. Lots of activities for children aged 0 to 12 and their families.

Newsome Play Day is on Wednesday 4th August 2021 from 11am to 3pm outdoors in the field behind Hillside Primary school, Headfield Road, Newsome HD4 6LU.

Activities include: Slip Slide, Arts and Crafts, Circus Skills, free Play activities and Sports.

It’s always a great fun day. Please remember to bring suitable outdoor clothing and bring along your lunch and drinks.

Covid is still here so remember: hands, face, space.

Pumpkin Picking and Creepy Crawley Trail, October 2020

Pick your own pumpkin from the Stirley Farm gardens and complete a creepy crawly trail with a sweet treat at the end. You can dress up in your favorite spooky halloween costume! Join in the fun from Monday 26th to Saturday 31st October, 10am to 1pm at Stirley Community Farm, off Hall Bower Lane, Huddersfield HD4 6FA.

It’s all outdoors and the organisers, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, have done everything they can to make sure you’ll feel safe and secure while still having fun. Booking in advance is essential.

Newsome Play Day Treasure Hunts

We can’t get together for our usual Play Day event this year, but you can still join in the fun. Newsome Ward Community Forum are setting up 3 Treasure Hunt Trails around Newsome.

Pick up your entry forms at one of these local stores:

  • Newsome Fisheries
  • Newsome Post Office
  • Fair Price
  • Naim Stores

The forms will tell you where the Treasure Hunt routes are, and how to join in.

You can take part from Wednesday 5th August 2020, which is National Play Day.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Wednesday 19th August.

Prizes will be suitable for ages 3 to 12 years old.

Easter Egg-travaganza at Stirley Farm – cancelled

The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have cancelled all events at Stirley Farm until the end of April 2020, due to the coronovirus outbreak.

Come along and egg-splore out egg-celent gardens! We’ll have an Easter themed trail with lots of family craft activities themed on new life! Standard price £4 / £6 per child. Fun for all the family, ages 3+ Light refreshments will be available.
