Growing Newsome’s Autumn event 2022

Everyone is welcome at Growing Newsome’s annual Autumn event. There’s lots of local food available to try and buy, including preserves, homemade cakes and a hot, two-course lunch served from 12 noon. Stalls and activities, with plenty of things for you to take away to grow at home, and a Wild Plant Walk with Growing Works.

Change of date: the event is now on Saturday 29th October 2022 from 10am to 1pm at Newsome Scout Hall, Newsome Road South HD4 6JJ. Refreshments are available all morning. Free admission.

Creepy Crawly Trail and Pumpkin Picking

Pick the perfect pumpkin in time for spooky season and discover the mighty mini beasts that have gardening superpowers on a creepy crawly trail around Stirley’s allotment and orchard. This event is fun for all the family. Access along the trail is grassy and uneven, we recommend walking boots or wellies. Price: £5 adults, £3 children.

Monday 24th October to Sunday 30th October 2022, 10:30am to 2.30pm each day (arrive any time). At Stirley, off Hall Bower Lane, Berry Brow, Huddersfield HD4 6RP.

Growing Newsome Coffee Morning, 2nd July 2022

Coffee Morning and Annual Meeting

Join Growing Newsome’s volunteers for an informal morning. Enjoy a cuppa and a chat. Hear about our activities so far and talk with us about what you’d like Growing Newsome to do in future. Free refreshments including homemade cake. Growing Newsome stall with plants and preserves. This is also our AGM, where we’ll be electing our organising group.

Berry Brow Carnival 2022

Come along to Berry Brow Carnival – it’s a great family afternoon, packed with activities and entertainment.

Keep your fingers and toes crossed that the sun has his hat on for this year’s Carnival on Saturday 18th June 2022 from 12.30pm to 5pm at Berry Brow Playing Fields, Ladyhouse Lane, Berry Brow, Huddersfield HD4 7QD.

Lots of activities, stalls, entertainment and some great food options too.

And don’t forget the carnival essentials: Art Tent, Tombola, Coconut Shy, Hook a Duck, Bran Tub, Welly Wanging, Egg Throwing and Hula Hoop Contest.

It’s never too early to be inspired by nature! Explore the great outdoors through fun and stimulating activities at Stirley. These friendly and inclusive Nature Tots sessions are specially designed for children aged four and under to learn with their parent or carer. Each session will have a special theme, be it based on a book, season or wildlife. We can’t wait to meet you and your adventurous little ones!

Wild Club, August 2022

An action-packed day camp for those wild about the great outdoors. From wild cooking to minibeast hunting and wild animal tracking, each day is set to be a true adventure and the highlight of your summer. For ages 8 to 11.

Bookings are for all four days (£80 per child).
